Running: Warm-Up, Cool-Down, and Strengthening

Hi Everyone!

Today Jesse is taking us through his pre-run warm up routine. He demonstrates the different movements that he uses with the cross country team he helps coach. He also shares some post run stretches, and core exercises to improve your running form/speed.

Gambit didn't want to miss a photo op. :)
This is really great information to help keep you injury free. Jesse is my running inspiration. He is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about the sport, yet despite his athletic prowess he remains humble. He helped coach me to a love of running. Check out: Running Made Me Cry...How I Became a Runner.

If you have running questions let us know! Post them in the comments below or on facebook

Enjoy!
Melissa

  1. Yay, something from Jesse!! He was making me laugh because of some babling and he said that first thing ;) Thanks for hitting on the topic of shin splits and advice for that. I didn't run for 3 weeks because they bothered me, but still focused on at home cardio. Thanks for sharing your tips and article Jesse! PS...love the accent ;)

  4. Thanks for sharing informative stuff. I am completely agreed with your opinion. Running, cycling and strengthening are very necessary before doing regular hard work in gym. It will increase the strength of your body and also reduce the chances of facing any injury. Small warm up and compound stretching make your body feasible and you can easily do heavy weight exercise.

  5. I have just started exercising after having 4 children. I would like to tone up my flabby baby belly. What videos do you recommend I do to help tone up my tummy. And is there a way to download your videos? I don't always have reliable internet.

Thanks so much I really enjoy your videos.

  7. I just started looking over your blog today, as I came across your 15 minute ab workout on YouTube. I have been trying so hard to get into a "workout mode" because I used to be fit in high school with all my activities and sports. Unfortunately though, I fell off the deep end when I started college.. and gained a little weight. Most people would say I am still thin, but I don't feel fit and that is a big issue for me. I also do like to run, but I can't seem to stay on a consistent schedule with it. I try to just plan races to keep myself motivated, but if I don't have a race coming up, I just can't get myself to do it. What do you suggest when it comes to starting up and trying to make running a routine, much less a lifestyle?
